Dance Ihayami Scotland offers Yoga classes in Edinburgh.  Check the class timetable for further details and get in touch via info@danceihayami.org for your FREE taster session.  Private tuition and workshops can also be arranged and since we’re always expanding our class timetable please register your interest if you’d like an additional class to be delivered in Glasgow, Dundee or Falkirk.  
What type of Yoga is taught by Dance Ihayami?

Dance Ihayami teaches Ashtanga inspired Yoga, a style that emphasises the linking of movement and breath (vinyasa), breathing with sound (ujjayi), bandhas (energy locks), and drishti (gazing point). Regular practice of Ashtanga Yoga improves circulation and purifies, strengthens and balances the body and mind. This gives a light, strong body and a steady, peaceful mind. 

What will I learn in the Yoga class?

Yoga classes will typically include:

  • Pranayama: these are breathing exercises learnt through specific breathing techniques.  Your energy is released for physical and mental rejuvenation.
  • Surya Namaskar: sun salutations will increase your circulation and flexibility.
  • Asanas: yoga postures with simple variations. Asanas not only produce physical benefits, but are also mental exercise in concentration, promoting optimum health. 
  • Deep Relaxation/Savasana: Proper relaxation is a vital part in recharging the body, keeping the body and mind healthy.

What should I wear to the Yoga class?

No footwear is required in yoga and make sure you’re wearing loose and comfortable clothing so that you can move easily.  Dance Ihayami will also provide yoga mats for students but you are of course welcome to bring your own!
