Sarani Indian Arts Projects (2015)
A performance project for young people, including those with additional support needs and their families in partnership with Dance Ihayami. Featuring dance, music, drumming, costumes and more – all leading to a show for family and friends.

Katha Indian Dance Outreach Project In East Ayrshine
Dance Ihayami was awarded a grant from BBC Children in Need to deliver an Indian dance outreach project with 7 groups in 4 schools in East Ayrshire, using Indian dance as a tool to engage 60 young people with additional support needs in a creative dance project.
Dance Ihayami’s instructors Karen and Kirsten worked weekly with students of Park School and Willowbank School in Kilmarnock, and Hillside School and Barshare Primary School in Cumnock. Through the medium of Indian arts, the participants followed a drop of water and exploring creatively the exceptional journey from the skies to the sea, and the landscapes and stories experienced along the way.
Dance Ihayami worked in partnership with East Ayrshire Creative Mind Team Dance Officer. The project was funded by BBC Children in Need.
UTSAVAM INDIAN DANCE OUTREACH PROJECT (2014) - EDINBURGH, GLASGOW &EAST AYRSHIRE
This outreach project was a celebration of culture, exploring a wealth of common threads between Commonwealth countries (Scotland and India), between generations (young and old), and between physical abilities. We worked with older people with dementia, young people from ethnic minority communities, and young people with additional support needs.
LAYAM INDIAN DANCE PERFORMANCE PROJECT (2013) - EAST AYRSHIRE & EDINBURGH
Dance Ihayami ran this outreach project in 2013. The aim of the project was to engage young people with additional support needs in Indian dance. The project took place in East Ayrshire and Edinburgh.
KATHA ‘FIRST IN A LIFETIME’ INDIAN DANCE PROJECT (2012/3) - EDINBURGH
With funding secured from Creative Scotland, Dance Ihayami worked with older people and people with dementia, building connections between cultures and connecting them with the arts. The project culminated in celebratory sharing events in Autumn 2012 (part of the Creative Aging Festival ‘Luminate’) and Spring 2013.
SAHASRA INDIAN DANCE PROJECT - EAST AYRSHIRE (JAN 2012)
Sahasra was a collaborative project between Dance Ihayami and East Ayrshire Council’s Creative Minds Team, working with 180 students from six schools over one month.
