IHAYAMI YOUTH COLLECTIVE

HAYAMI YOUTH COLLECTIVE is Dance Ihayami’s youth dance group that meets on a weekly basis in Edinburgh. The group gives young dancers the opportunity to improve their Indian classical dance skills, explore ‘fusions’ with other art forms (music, media, dance), learn new moves, be creative and have lots of fun.

IHAYAMI YOUTH COLLECTIVE AND YDANCE ROUTES

YDance Routes is a national dance programme that offers workshops, performances, training, networking events and support to inspire, develop and broaden the horizons of Scotland's young dancers.

Since 2011, Ihayami Fusion has been taking part in the annual Connections weekends (working with choreographers, meeting other youth dancers from around Scotland, trying out other styles of dance), and Destinations showcase events (performing at Macrobert Arts Centre.

Ihayami Fusion's major achievements to date:

1. In 2012 they were selected as one of two youth dance groups to represent Scotland at the National Youth Dance Festival in Leeds.

2. In 2014, they were selected as one of six youth dance groups to represent Scotland at the Commonwealth Youth Dance Festival in Glasow.

3. In 2017, they were selected to represent Scotland at the National Youth Dance Festival in Birmingham.

Ihayami Fusion original members, at their first YDance Routes event in 2011 and at their last event (Commonwealth Youth Dance Festival) in 2014.



IHAYAMI SPICE

Ihayami Spice is Dance Ihayami’s youth dance group for our 6-10 year old junior dancing stars. The group meets on a weekly basis in Edinburgh, and gives young dancers the opportunity to improve their Indian classical dance skills, and learn exciting choreographoes under artistic director Priya Shrikumar.
